Mrs. C. Frederick

M Ed: Instructional Technology

Mrs. Celia M. Frederick was born in Antigua on the 6th of October, 1964. She attended the Swetes Primary School (now Irene B. Williams School). She gained entry into the All Saints’ Secondary School, following the common entrance exams in 1976. After graduating from high school in 1982, she decided to find a job in order to be self supporting. At first, she resisted going into the teaching profession, but after one term at home she applied for a teaching job and was hired by the government (Jan 1983) to serve as a supernumerary teacher in the public school system. Her first assignment was to teach Form 3 (Grade 9) Math, Biology and Chemistry at the Antigua Grammar School (AGS).

As part of her in-service-training Mrs. Frederick completed the two-year Teacher Education programme at the Antigua State College (1990-1992) and was endorsed by UWI, who awarded her Teacher Certificate. Since then she has been the benefactor of many workshops and seminars. At the completion of a distance learning course, she was awarded a graduate Diploma in Training & Development in June 2003, by the University of Leicester’s Centre for Labour Market Studies (CLMS) in the UK.  Mrs. Frederick’s most recent accomplishment is a Master of Education Degree, conferred by American Intercontinental University in March, 2006.

In February of 2003, Mrs. Frederick was selected to serve on the National Science Curriculum Writing Team, a core group of four teachers who work on the development of the K-9 Science curriculum. One of her responsibilities in this capacity is to co-facilitate workshops, designed to allow classroom teachers to contribute to the science curriculum process at their respective teaching levels.

Mrs. Frederick, has spent most of her working years teaching at AGS (except for July 1986-May 1989 when she lived in NY, USA and Sept. 1989-Sept. 1990 when she taught Forms 1-2/Grades 7-8 Integrated Science at her alma mater). She currently teaches Form 3/Grade 9 Chemistry and Form1/Grade 7 Integrated Science at the AGS.                   <Close window>
